Monitoring of dams and hydraulic structures

Dams, weirs, locks and embankments work under water pressure that changes with the season, with rainfall and with how the reservoir is operated. Water levels change with the time of year, and with them the pressure, the pore pressures and the geometry of the structure. A single reading says little — what counts is the trend seen against previous seasons.
